Wood Carvings

Compared to soapstone carving working with cottonwood bark is considerably lighter.

The bark actually tells a story of what it wants to be. Each piece is unique, named, signed, dated and photographed for an upcoming book.

These are whimsical homes for dwarfs and fairies where only your imagination sets the limits. Castles are from a long ago time where legends abound. The lighthouses and old fishing boats are from a age of discovery and early development of our coastal waters. I hope the pleasure that I have had carving is passed on to you for your enjoyment.

I have only been carving for a year and I am amazed at people’s reaction to the display at the many shows that I attend. The carvings have won many awards. I find carving energizing and the ideas just keep on coming so that I too am surprised at the end result.
